Important Testing Information:

There are ONLY 5 days to test and many late testing requests will not be approved this year for all EOC/CTE/NCFE.  Family vacations and trips WILL NOT be approved.  For students that require late testing, a form must be submitted to the CCS Data and Accountability Department.  Please contact Jennifer Walker with any questions.
Fall Semester testing December 16-20
Spring Semester testing May 18-22

General Information:

  • Due to school closing for two days homeroom will be extended two more days through Wednesday, September 11th.
  • We are working behind the scenes to ensure ALL students can sign on to FlexTime Manager and register for their SMART Lunch classes. We are encouraging students to use a laptop or PC to register for classes. This can easily be done at home. We need 95% of our students signed up for seven days of classes so we can begin on Thursday, September 12th. Otherwise, we will continue reporting to homeroom until we are at 95%.
  • Fall Underclass school photos will be taken on Tuesday, September 17. A schedule will be posted to let each underclassman know when they should report to have their photo taken. Picture order forms will be sent home this week.
  • Yearbooks are on sale for $60.00 until September 27.  After September the cost will go to $70. Go to, enter Terry Sanford High School and follow the prompts to order.  Senior parents don’t forget to order your Senior Recognition Ad. You can do this at as well. Questions? Email
  • Save the Date!  Our Miss FTS pageant will be on November 21, 2019 and the Junior/Senior prom will be on April 4.
  • Just a reminder that Senior dues are $85, Senior Dues will be collected by Ms. Allen during specified Smart Lunches.  Ms. Allen will be in front of the cafeteria during Lunch A on September 12th! All seniors who pay their dues by the end of September will receive 2 extra graduation tickets! Senior dues will include a t-shirt and trip. These dues do not COVER graduation expenses.
  • Juniors dues are $20 and Prom Fees are $45 for a total of $65. These can be paid to Mrs. McMillan.   Juniors who pay their Junior dues by the end of September will get an extra graduation ticket for 2021.  Dues will include a t-shirt and activity.
  • Dawg Cards will be sold during B lunch for $40. These cards will have your name and picture on the card. The Dawg Card will get you into every FTS regular-season home game…no matter the sport. Stop by the media center to purchase your Dawg Card.
  • The PSAT/NMSQT will be offered on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Terry Sanford High School. There are only 75 tests available for students in grades 10 and 11. It will be offered on a first-come, first paid basis. The cost of the exam is $17.00 per student. The fee is payable via cash or check made payable to Terry Sanford High School. If you are interested in taking the PSAT/NMQST, please sign up using the link on the TSHS homepage. If you have already paid for the PSAT but did NOT receive a student guide, please pick one up from Ms. Adkins in the AP Office.


  • Interested in being on the Wrestling Team?  Meet Tuesday, September 10th in the wrestling room at 3:45. This meeting will be brief so that fall athletes that are possibly interested can still attend and still make it to practice on time.
  • Monday: Golf @ Gates Four: Volleyball home vs Western Harnett; Soccer home at RRCS vs Gray’s Creek.
  • Tuesday: Tennis at Mazerick Park vs Westover; Volleyball home vs Westover
  • Wednesday: Soccer at Douglas Byrd; Bulldog Coach’s Show at Sammio’s
  • Thursday: Tennis and Volleyball at South View High School; JV Football home at RRCS vs E.E. Smith
  • Friday: Varsity Football at E.E. Smith High School

Club and Group Announcements:

  • Looking to join a club or want to know what clubs are available…Wednesday, September 11th  during all 3 lunches there will be a club fair in the media center.
  • Mu Alpha Theta (Math Club) will hold its first meeting on Monday, September, 16 in Room #12, during SMART Lunch B.  All members from last year are encouraged to attend as we will elect our officers for the 2019-2020 school year. Students may join provided they are enrolled in Math 3 or higher and have a GPA of at least 3.00 in all math courses taken.  The club requires initiation fees (amount to be determined by the club officers). Students must sign-up in Flextime Manager to attend the meeting. See Mr. Race in Room #12 for more information.
